Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Okapi is a quick learner, eager to please and full of puppy personality. Because food is one of his favorite things, he's highly motivated by treats to learn new things! With expressive ears, you'll never have to guess what this guys thinking. He will bring laughs and entertainment with his silly antics! In his foster home he lives with kids, aged 9-11, and has loved all the other dogs he's met. Okapi is super-content to cuddle on the couch after a day's play. He has been house- and crate- trained during his stay! Okapi's ideal home is a semi-active one where he can continue to learn good-boy skills. He is more of a homebody as he can be nervous out in the big wide world. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. His adoption fee is $350. Apply today at mpravl! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
