Dog Breed: Hound / Terrier / Mixed. Looking for a sweet puppy who is sure to bloom into a wonderful member of your family? Look no further than Daisy! Daisy is a 10-month-old hound mix with a beautiful brown and black coat. She currently weighs 32 lbs. but still has a bit more growing to do. She is likely to be medium-sized (up to 60 lbs.) pup when fully grown. Daisy was originally rescued by our partner shelter in South Carolina before making her way to Connecticut to find her forever home. Daisy enjoys hanging out with her pup friends, and also loves attention from her humans, including kids! She has not yet met a cat, so we are not sure how she feels about them. As a medium-energy pup, Daisy would love to find a family that will spend time exercising her and playing with her but also will give her plenty of cuddles. Daily short walks (under thirty minutes) will be a good opportunity to work on leash skills as well as socialization skills. Daisy would love to join a family who will provide her with proper training and plenty of socialization, plus lots of play, exercise, and love! She is working hard on her house, crate, and leash training and cannot wait to impress you with her willingness to learn new skills. As with all puppies, Daisy is ready to learn all about the world and will grow from adorable puppy to amazing dog with the right guidance and patience. It will take time but be sure to celebrate the baby steps along the way, and Daisy will blossom before you know it! If you are ready to give Daisy all the love and attention she deserves, she cannot wait to meet you! The adoption fee for Daisy is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
