Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. Meet dear and beautiful Autumn. She is a mixed breed (hound/lab + others) estimated to be three years old and weighs 35 pounds. She is smart, eager to please, affectionate and an absolute delight in every way. A good Samaritan found Autumn abandoned on a KY highway and lovingly brought her to safety; she was fostered in KY for several weeks before she got her freedom ride to Chicago on October 3. Her life had changed so rapidly and yet, she saw the best in her world. One of my favorite things about her is that I ask her for a kiss and she proudly gives me a soft boop with her little nose. More about Autumn: · She loves to be outside and she goes to the door and sits without being asked so her harness can be put on. · She likes to stop and smell all the things in her environment; she does need some leash work since she gets excited to meet everyone she encounters. · She is crate trained and potty trained. · She is good with kids, cats and LOVES meeting other dogs. · She is food motivated, takes treats gently and eats well. She doesn’t chew on inappropriate things and loves her bully sticks. · She loves car rides. · She loves to snuggle with humans and always greets them with innocent, hopeful eyes and happy tail wags. · Her first foster Mom quickly taught her to sit and shake/give paw. She describes Autumn as an old soul The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
