Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. A GENTLE & LOVING FRIEND: Approx. 6 years old / Approx. 31 lbs. Hi, I’m Missy! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, where it was clear I’d been a mama before - but those days are behind me now! I’m ready to focus on me and find a loving forever home where I can be the one getting the love and attention while letting my family know how much I love them, too. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met and played with another dog in my short break foster home and we each respected the other’s ‘I’m done now’ signals, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m told that I’m sweeter than sugar and just a delight to be around! I love people and greet the nice volunteers with happy tail wags and kisses. I’m a gentle, friendly girl who enjoys a little prancing and playtime but is just as content soaking up affection. Even when I was a bit unsure of the bath sprayer, I did my best and ended up doing well - because I really just want to please and be loved. I’m a sweetheart through and through, and everyone who meets me can’t help but smile! At Mostly Mutts, I can climb a pretty tall kennel, so please keep a good watch on me in our yard to make sure I don’t scale or jump the fence as I don’t want to get lost or hurt. / Energy Level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program where I have learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and ‘come’ commands as well as how to accept friendly strangers without jumping. I look forward to learning a lot more with my trainer! Check back soon to see what I've learned. / I’m not a fan of being crated and am on an anxiety medication to help with this at the shelter. I do much better in my little room, so please consider keeping me in a bathroom or spare room instead of a wire crate as I chew on these and could get hurt. / I’ve been having accidents on the shelter schedule, so I’ll need your help with this in my new home. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love spending time with people! Sitting on the bench in front of Mostly Mutts with the volunteers is one of my favorite things, and I can never get enough gentle pets, belly rubs and love. I’m a happy girl who likes to give kisses and be close to people - it’s the best! / Other than being in a crate or kennel, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m taking anxiety medications called Trazodone and Fluoxetine to help with my kennel stress and it’s very possible that I’ll be able to come off this gradually as I settle into my new home. I currently have a slight limp on one of my back legs, which has been checked out and we suspect is the result of a healing sprain. I’m a wonderful dog looking for a wonderful family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
