Description
Dog Breed: Golden Retriever / Australian Shepherd / Mixed. Meet Ruger Ruger is a 10-month-old Australian Shepherd and Golden Retriever mix with a heart as big as his energy level! This sweet boy is still very much a puppy playful, affectionate, and always ready to explore the world with you. Ruger loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with a fenced yard and another playful pup to help burn off his zoomies. He’s a water lover who enjoys swimming, car rides, and anything that involves being active. He’s still learning leash manners but is making great progress, especially when using a harness. He’s incredibly smart, a quick learner who already responds to hand signals and will happily sit when asked. Like most puppies, Ruger still has some puppy chewing habits, but with consistency and enrichment toys, he’ll outgrow them in no time. Ruger does best with older kids (he’s a big ball of enthusiasm!) and would love a family that’s active, patient, and home often enough to give him the attention he deserves. He’s housebroken, kennel trained, and has no problem letting you know when it’s time to go outside. Ruger is waiting for his perfect match, someone who can keep up with his adventurous spirit and shower him with love. Ideal Home: • Fenced yard • Active family or individual • Older kids • No cats You may find me on our website under "ADOPT

Breed overview
Overview:
The Australian Retriever, a delightful hybrid of the Australian Shepherd and Golden Retriever, is a relatively new designer breed gaining popularity for its winning combination of traits. Originating in the United States, this intelligent and eager-to-please dog typically sports a medium-length, often wavy or feathered coat in a variety of colors, including merle, black, and various shades of gold or red. Physically, they are well-proportioned, often inheriting the Golden's friendly expression with the Aussie's alert eyes. Temperament-wise, they are renowned for being loyal, affectionate, and highly trainable, making them excellent companions for active families. While their energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them better suited for houses with yards rather than small apartments, their adaptability and gentle nature usually make them wonderful with children and other pets. Potential health considerations can include those common to their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, and certain eye conditions, highlighting the importance of responsible breeding practices.
