Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Meet Banjo, our very own real-life storybook pup. Picture the cheerful little hound from a children’s tale: the one who wakes up every morning ready for adventure, tail wagging, ears perked, heart wide open. That’s Banjo. Banjo is a happy, playful, black-and-white hound who seems to believe the world is full of friends he just hasn’t met yet. He runs like he’s chasing butterflies in a meadow, he plays like every moment is a game, and he looks at people with this “Tell me what to do, I’ll try my best!” sparkle in his eyes. He’s eager to please, quick to learn, and always ready to bring joy into the room. He’d fit perfectly into a home where fun is welcomed, where walks are part of the day’s adventures, and where someone has a little space in their heart for a dog who loves big and lives happily. If you’ve ever wished a picture-book character could step right off the page and join your family, Banjo is waiting. Someone just needs to turn the page and say, “This is the part where he comes home.” ✨

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
