(Age and weight are estimated.) Onyx was saved from a high-kill shelter in South Korea, where his future was uncertain. Thanks to rescue, he now has the chance to begin a whole new chapter filled with safety, care, and love. He has already traveled a long way, and now he just needs a family who will help him continue his journey home. Labs are known for their companionship, loyalty, and joyful spirits — and Onyx is so ready to become someone’s best friend. Adoption Details His adoption fee is $1,495, which is a non-refundable donation that helps save the lives of other dogs in need. It covers his neuter, vaccinations, microchip, boarding fees, health certificate, and transport costs from South Korea to Seattle. A GPS tracker or Apple AirTag is required for all adopted dogs — you may bring your own or purchase one from us. Please note: We do not guarantee breed or age, as both are best estimates. Ginger’s Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and every adoption directly helps rescue and care for more dogs just like Onyx. Thank you for choosing rescue.

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
