Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky / American Eskimo Dog / Mixed. Athena is a true survivor — a gentle, loving mama who gave everything she had to raise her puppies. When she first came to us, she and her babies were very sick, but thanks to her strength and her incredible foster’s dedication, they are all healthy and thriving today. Now that her “milk department” is officially closed, it’s Athena’s turn to be cared for. She’s affectionate, loves to cuddle, and enjoys being close to her people. Athena knows her basic commands, listens well, and has a calm, loyal personality that makes her a joy to have around. She’s looking for a forever family who will give her the same unconditional love she’s given to her babies. Athena deserves a soft bed, gentle hands, and a heart that’s ready to love her back. Breed overview
Overview:
The Huskimo is a captivating crossbreed, combining the alert intelligence of the American Eskimo Dog with the adventurous spirit of the Siberian Husky. Originating from designer breed efforts to blend desirable traits, Huskimos typically present a striking appearance with a thick, double coat that can vary in color from white and cream to black and grey, often inheriting the Husky’s piercing blue or bi-colored eyes. Physically, they are medium-sized dogs, generally weighing between 30-60 pounds, showcasing a sturdy build. Temperamentally, they are known for being intelligent, energetic, and often quite playful, making them good companions for active families. However, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation mean they are generally not well-suited for apartment living unless sufficient exercise and engagement are provided. While generally healthy, potential health considerations include hip and elbow dysplasia, eye conditions like cataracts, and thyroid issues, inherited from their parent breeds. Early socialization and consistent training are crucial to developing a well-adjusted Huskimo.
