Description
Dog Breed: Corgi. Kona is a sweet, almost 5 year old Corgi girl who came to CCFR because her owner could no longer care for her. She is currently 35lbs and is on a weight loss journey so her new family will need to help her watch her diet and get plenty of exercise. She enjoys walks, outings, and car rides. She loves people, attention, and all the pets. Her life has had a lot of recent changes so she will need patience, time, and love as she settles into her new home. Kona is crate trained and knows her basic tricks. She is food motivated and willing to learn. She doesn’t like sharing with other dogs and will guard her crate, bowls, and food. Because of this she would do best as an only dog in the home. She is a typical corgi and can be vocal, so would do better with a more experienced owner. She is not recommended to a home with cats and would do best with older respectful children only. She is spayed, up to date on her shots, heartworm test negative, and microchipped. She would do best with owners who are not gone long hours of the day and would like a secure yard for some playtime. If you’re interested in meeting Kona, the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at .corgisandfriends/forms We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Kona is spayed, utd on vaccs, chipped, and HW-. Her adoption fee is $400 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
