Description
Dog Breed: Alaskan Malamute (medium coat). Meet Lucky – Our Miracle Malamute! Lucky is a stunning and gentle Alaskan Malamute with a heart as big as his beautiful fluffy coat. This handsome boy has escaped the euthanasia list twice — both times rescued just minutes before it was too late. Lucky’s journey hasn’t been easy. He was first saved from Contra Costa Animal Care Center by another rescue and later adopted in Southern California. Sadly, his family could no longer care for him, and he was passed to another family. After some time, that family abandoned him at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center — where he once again faced euthanasia. Thankfully, we stepped in and saved him just in time. Despite everything he’s been through, Lucky is pure love. He adores people, gets along well with other dogs, walks nicely on a leash, and is fully housebroken. He’s vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered — ready for his forever home. Whoever adopts Lucky will truly be the luckiest person. Don’t be intimidated by his size — he’s just a big, gentle teddy bear looking for love. ❤️

Overview:
The Alaskan Malamute is a powerful and ancient arctic breed, originating from the Mahlemut Inupiaq people of Alaska, where they were indispensable for hauling heavy sleds and assisting hunters. Physically, they are a large, robust spitz-type dog, easily recognizable by their thick double coat (typically grey and white, or red and white), strong build, and often striking dark almond-shaped eyes that convey an intelligent and gentle expression. Temperamentally, Malamutes are known for being affectionate, loyal, and playful with their families, but also possess an independent streak and a strong prey drive. While generally good with children when properly socialized, their size and strength necessitate supervision. They are definitely not suited for apartment living due to their high energy levels and need for ample exercise; a home with a secure yard and active owners is ideal. Regarding health, common concerns include hip and elbow dysplasia, bloat, and certain eye conditions. Potential owners should be prepared for their grooming needs and commitment to consistent training.
