Name: Blake Best Guess for Breed: Shih tzu and Havanese mix Best Guess for Age: 3 months as of 11/1/25 SEX: Male Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!): 3.8 lbs as of 11/9/25 Gets Along With: Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training. Currently Living at: South Carolina shelter- needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here! Special Adoption Considerations: Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy. Blake is Looking For: Shih tzu and Havanese? No, this pup gotta have Ewok somewhere in its ancestry. This super cute baby wants what all puppies want - lots of snuggles and play time and cuddles. And then to explore the neighborhood and the world! He definitely wants to go to puppy school to learn to be the bestest boy - small dogs often get picked up or pulled along rather than trained appropriately just because it's easier to pick them up and that's not awesome. Look at this boy's coat too. That's a lifetime of daily brushing and regular grooming -otherwise it can get matted. Mats hurt. Blake does not want to get matted. If you're up for an Ewok dog with a high maintenance coat, apply for Blake - and get the cutest little fluff ever, along with all the love in his little body and the loyal companionship he promises for all his days. What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has spent time in foster care. Puppy Vetting Requirements: Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog. Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered. As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than February 1, 2026. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets. Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog! TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. Breed overview
Overview:
The Havashu is an adorable and increasingly popular hybrid, a delightful cross between the gentle Havanese and the charming Shih Tzu. Originating from designer breed efforts to combine the best traits of both parents, these small companions typically inherit a soft, wavy to curly coat that can come in a vast array of colors and patterns, often requiring regular grooming to prevent matting. Physically, they are compact and sturdy, usually weighing between 7-15 pounds. Temperamentally, Havashus are known for being affectionate, playful, and intelligent, making them highly trainable and eager to please. Their loving nature makes them excellent family pets and their adaptability suits them well for apartment living, provided they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation. While generally robust, potential health considerations can include conditions common to their parent breeds, such as patellar luxation, eye conditions, and respiratory issues, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups for a long, healthy life.
