Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Rat Terrier / Mixed. Adoption Fee: 550. Canie is a sweet and affectionate 4-year-old Chi mix who can win over just about anyone with her charm, friendliness, and lively personality. She gets along with dogs of all sizes and loves playing with her foster siblings all day, so a home with other dogs or plenty of interaction would be ideal for her. Potty trained and able to use a potty pad when kenneled, Canie is both smart and adaptable. She patiently waits for her treats—then happily runs outside to enjoy them in peace—and of course, has a few quirky habits, like standing on your chest when you wake up, giving enthusiastic face and nose kisses, and sneaking off with house slippers, flip-flops, or anything left within reach if you’re not careful. Canie is learning appropriate play and will need support to continue training as when she gets excited, she may lightly mouth at you, but a redirection helps.. Canie loves her chew toys and rawhide and can entertain herself when needed, but her happiest moments are spent with her people and her dog friends. She’s a loving, spirited girl who will bring joy, laughter, and companionship to a home that appreciates her big personality and bigger heart. Look at Canie playing! Canie is from Texas. Breed overview
Overview:
The Rat-Cha, a charming crossbreed between the Chihuahua and Rat Terrier, offers a spirited companion with a unique blend of its parent breeds' best traits. Originating from the desire to combine the Chihuahua's affectionate nature with the Rat Terrier's intelligence and robustness, this hybrid is gaining popularity. Physically, Rat-Chas are typically small to medium-sized, weighing between 6 and 15 pounds, with a short, easy-to-care-for coat that can vary widely in color. They often possess expressive eyes and a sturdy build, reflecting their terrier lineage. Temperamentally, they are known for being alert, playful, and loyal, often forming strong bonds with their families. While they can be vocal, early socialization and training can mitigate this. Their adaptable size makes them well-suited for both apartment living and homes with yards, and they can be wonderful additions to active families, though supervision is wise with very young children due to their smaller stature. Health-wise, like many small breeds, they can be prone to dental issues and patellar luxation, so regular vet check-ups are important.
