Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Hi, I’m Conrad. I’m about 2–3 years old, 51 pounds, and ready for a fresh start. My life hasn’t always been easy—I was left behind in a home when my owners moved away. It was confusing and sad, but I’ve never stopped being an absolute sweetheart. I love people, and I seem to do really well around other dogs. I’m perfect on walks, potty trained, and I take treats very gently. I have one of the calmest, most peaceful personalities you’ll ever meet. I get a little sad in the shelter (it’s a lot for a sensitive guy like me), but once I’m outside, I brighten right up—you can see my whole spirit lift. I’m heartworm negative, neutered, and so ready for a family who won’t leave me behind again. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal companion with a huge heart, I’m your boy. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
