Description
Dog Breed: Cocker Spaniel (long coat). Sparkle lives up to her name she has one sparkling personality. Sparkle is 2 yrs old and about 17lbs. She came to us from a commercial breeder that never bred her because she has cataract in one eye that she cannot see out of. For that reason we are suggesting a home with no small children. Sparkle is now spayed, current on vaccination, had a dental and blood work. She is timid at first but wants to be your friend. Once she has trust you she will start dancing around and showing off that personality. She is fine with other dogs. We think she will be fine with cats too. Sparkle will need a patient home as she is still learning housetraining and how to navigate truly being a lovely house dog. To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $400 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs. We do not ship dogs. All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.

Overview:
The Cocker Spaniel, a beloved breed with roots in the United Kingdom, was originally bred as a gundog to flush out woodcock. They are instantly recognizable by their medium size, typically weighing 20-30 pounds, their luxurious, often wavy coat (which comes in a variety of colors), and their long, expressive ears that frame their gentle, eager-to-please eyes. Known for their merry and affectionate temperament, Cockers are generally good-natured, intelligent, and relatively easy to train, making them an excellent choice for families with children and even first-time dog owners. While adaptable, their moderate exercise needs can be met with daily walks and playtime, making them suitable for apartment living as long as they receive sufficient mental and physical stimulation. Prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including ear infections (due to their long ears), eye conditions like cataracts, and hip dysplasia, which highlight the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
