Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Tony is an adorable pup who is in need of a new home. He is with our partner rescue in Louisiana but can come to NJ if we find a foster or adopter. We do offer a foster-to-adopt trial to approved adopters. Meet Tony! This lovable guy is super friendly with people and great with kids. He is dog friendly and loves to play with other dogs. He's doing well with kennel training and house training with a few accidents. He sleeps in his kennel at night Tony is fixed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He tested negative for heartworm. His adoption fee is $550. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. How to Adopt Me! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
