Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (medium coat). Meet Disco! Location: Raleigh, NC Age: ~2 years • Gender: Male Neutered, UTD on Vaccines and HW Negative! Looking for the perfect mix of cuddly, calm, and playful? Meet Disco, the sweet young adult ACD hoping to find his forever home just in time for the holidays! Personality Disco is an incredibly sweet, affectionate boy who loves attention, pets, and gentle hugs. He may start out a bit shy or reserved when meeting new people or new environments, but he warms up quickly—and each day he’s gaining more confidence. Once he trusts you, he absolutely shines. Ideal Home & Energy Level Disco is that rare low-to-medium energy cattle dog who doesn’t need intense exercise to be fulfilled. He’d be happiest with: Back-yard play sessions, A few casual neighborhood walks And long, cozy evenings snoozing next to you while you binge your favorite Netflix series. He is kennel-trained and does great crated during a workday (with a midday potty break) and overnight. Cats: Has been exposed and shows no signs of cat-drive, which is unusual for an ACD—extra points, Disco! Dogs: Loves playing with a 16-week-old puppy and has done well meeting older dogs (still being tested post-neuter). Kids: Has not been exposed yet, but due to his sensitive and timid nature, a less noisy home may be best suitable for him. Breed Considerations While prior ACD experience isn’t required for Disco, adopters should have done some research on typical Cattle Dog traits. They’re loyal, smart, and incredible companions—but understanding the breed helps set everyone up for success. Adoption Requirements Disco can be adopted out of state, but a meet-and-greet in North Carolina is required to adopt. Could You Be Disco’s Best Christmas Present Ever? Disco is ready for a family who will give him patience, love, and stability—and in return, he’ll be the loyal, snuggly, steady companion you’ve been waiting for. If you’re ready to change Disco’s life for good, reach out to meet this wonderful boy! Contact <waterdingoes25gmail> Complete an Application: .acdra/adoption-application

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
