Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. Peep needs a new playmate and is hoping to find one before the end of the year. He is a 5-year-old Terrier/Mixed Breed little gentleman who was rescued from a hoarding situation in order to find a new home and forever family. Peep has a cream-colored fuzzy coat and weighs 13 pounds, making him a small dog (10-31 pounds). Size is no obstacle to his high spirits and love of games, and he will happily chase a tennis ball around the yard, providing any human companion with a good workout. Dogs and children also make perfect companions for Peep. It is not known whether Peep likes cats. Peep is working on his house training and has already mastered his leash training skills. It is important to remember that rescue dogs can have accidents as they become accustomed to a new home, family and routines. If crate training is planned, Peep requires a crate big enough for him to stand and turn around in as well as lie down comfortably. Crates should be cozy, happy places for dogs to hang out and must never be used for punishment. Toss a tennis ball, indulge in some simple tug of war, try a puzzle feeder, whatever toys and games you can devise will be more fun when Peep plays with you. * Please keep in mind when considering adoption, dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust significantly better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Peep is $500. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
