Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Cattle Dog mix male puppy Welcome George from Kern County Animal Services. By shelter standards, this guy was in for a while. Someone must have liked him and kept him alive long enough for us to scoop him to safety. He’s in foster with an awesome family, ranch style. So far here is what they report: “George is super cute, playful and adventurous. He’s snuggly and loves people. He plays well with other dogs but not quite ready to share food yet. He’s got super cool coat coloring and at 29lbs, is the perfect size. So far he’s been pretty quiet. He’s going to make someone a great dog!” George is a 10-12 month old cattle dog mix. He is microchipped, UTD on vaccines, and will be getting scheduled for a neuter shortly. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
