Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Lucky was abandoned near my home when he was just a puppy. He didn't know the streets or how to survive. The street dogs didn't accept him, and after many attacks, he became quiet, scared, and stopped eating. For weeks he wandered, afraid and alone, until one day he decided he wanted to be saved and followed me home. With my home already full of dogs, I had no choice but to place him in a shelter, but it was still far better than the streets. There, Lucky slowly began to gain confidence and come out of his shell. He learned that food can come from kind hands and that not all humans mean harm. Despite everything he went through, Lucky never lost his gentle spirit. He's now one of the happiest and most playful dogs in the shelter, always running, jumping, and showering everyone he meets with love. * • He gets along beautifully with all the other dogs. Today, Lucky is 2 and a half years old, around 40 pounds, fully vaccinated, neutered, and ready for his forever home.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
