Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: free if good home, sponsor. On Monday, November 17, 2025, Edward Lee "Eddie" Miller of Barnesville, Georgia suffered a brain aneurysm that lead to a tragic accident. Eddie has seriously injured and was taken off life support on Sunday, November 23. Eddie's death leaves his beloved dog Shy homeless. Shy is a rescue dog that Eddie adopt a few years ago.We have estimated Shy's age. He is in need of vaccinations which will be taken care of before adoption. Shy is in need of a loving home where is the only dog. He is house trained, but has been having accidents since his separation from Eddie. He is very sweet and has lived around older cats, but not sure about younger cats or children. If you can help give Shy a furever home it would be gratefully appreciated Adoptions are limited to an approximately 150-mile radius from Locust Grove, GA, certain circumstances may allow exceptions. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
