Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. I’m reaching out to request help with rehoming my purebred Havanese, Philip, who was born in September 2017. Philip is a small (14 lbs), crate-trained, litter-box–trained dog with a lot of love and personality. He’s on a hypoallergenic diet, takes CBD for chronic skin irritation, and is otherwise healthy and up to date on all veterinary care. He settles calmly in his crate at night, is quiet indoors, and has a predictable daily routine. That said, he does have a bite history. He has bitten a few times, as he gets anxious when new people reach for his face or paws. However, Philip has a longtime groomer who has not reported any problems. He does well with professionals and adults who are used to handling dogs with boundaries and prefers quiet, structured environments. He is not generally aggressive — just sensitive, and when approached thoughtfully is delightful. **** Breed: Purebred Havanese **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2191270&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
