Description
Dog Breed: Husky (medium coat). Meet Sunshine! Lovely Sunshine is a gentle girl. Sadly she recently lost her owner and was left behind on her own in the apartment they once shared together. Family members are stopping by to feed her daily but she is mostly on her own. We are working to find Sunshine a foster home, but would ultimately like to see her in a loving new home where she can live out her golden years. Sunshine is a gentle girl who does not ask for much. She loves all people and gets along with other dogs. She loves to lay in the sun in the yard and enjoys a nice walk here and there. She is a sweetheart. We will ensure Sunshine is fully vet checked, vaccinated and microchipped. We just want to help this darling girl a new home. We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495. Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at .savinggreatanimals and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon!

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
