Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Nemo is a cutie patootie weiging in at a whopping 12 punds. He is a terrier mix who was spotted running in the woods with an older, very similarly marked male, presumed to be his father. He was frightened, cold, and skittish, but was trapped and brought in to the warm indoors where he has been doing well and behaving like a typical 1 year old pup. He is very outgoing and sweet. He gets along with other dogs and seems to love people. He loves hanging out on the couch and watching TV. Nemo is currently with a foster and will be neutered in the very near future. We cant wait to watch his personality develop!!! 2/10/26 Nemo was neutered and tolerated the procedure like the trooper that he is. He is still with a foster, but will be available for adoptions as soon as his stitches are removed. He tested negative for heartworm and tick borne diseases and was started on Heartgard for HW prevention.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
