Description

Dog Breed: Dachshund (short coat). Meet Tori! She is a 6-week-old Dachshund/Basset Hound mix puppy and one of Mama Teddi’s eight beautiful puppies that currently weigh between 2.5–4 lbs. Tori is the smallest girl in the litter and is closer to the 2.5–3 lb range right now. She is beautiful white with brown ears and a few tan freckles down her spine. She truly is the cutest, sweetest girl! Tori loves to play her heart out with her siblings and when she is tired will simply lay down and nap wherever she happens to be. She loves to be picked up when she is sleeping and held in your arms like a baby. She is full of kisses and snuggles and will make an amazing addition to a family. She is adaptable, easy going, friendly, and super sweet. She is a good eater and doing so well figuring out potty training while she waits for her forever family to find her. She loves kids and other dogs and will make a great companion. Tori will be ready to go to her forever home on March 17, but you can get your application in today! Overview:

The Dachshund, affectionately known as the "wiener dog," is a fascinating breed originating in Germany, primarily bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Their most distinctive physical characteristic is their long, low-slung body and short, muscular legs, a feature perfectly adapted for tunneling. They come in three coat types – smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired – and various sizes, from miniature to standard. Temperamentally, Dachshunds are known for being courageous, curious, and often quite playful, with a surprising amount of energy. While they are intelligent, their independent nature can make training a delightful challenge. Their small size and relatively low exercise requirements make them well-suited for apartment living, and they can be wonderful companions for families, though early socialization is key, especially with children and other pets. Regarding health, their unique body shape predisposes them to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), so careful handling and weight management are crucial.
