Description
Dog Breed: Husky / Shepherd. We tagged gorgeous Jasper to save him from PTS 3/2/26 Monday AM at SASA Modesto. No one stepped up to save him so last minute we did. He was only there for 10 days but this shelter is now a high kill shelter due to high numbers of abandoned dogs every week. Now we need a foster home for him. ð𥰠He is very dog friendly playful polite to other dogs social friendly to all and affectionate. Healthy and handsome. He will be a great family and walking/hiking buddy. We will have to emergency board him if no foster home which is costly for us until we find him a dedicated foster home. He is young friendly healthy and gorgeous. He will find a forever home soon. Just need time to be seen. Donations needed and appreciated. Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
