Description
Dog Breed: Papillon / Italian Greyhound / Mixed (medium coat). What's not to love about Maxine? Maxine is estimated to be around 7 months old, and she is an adorable girl with the cutest personality. She can be bashful at times, but once she settles in, she is a playful and goofy puppy who loves to have fun. Maxine currently weighs about 10lbs and we think she will grow a little and be around 13lbs when fully grown. Maxine came to us from a local shelter. She and her two sisters were found as strays and were never claimed by a family. One of her sisters was adopted, and the other is safe with another rescue. It's now this sweet girl's turn to get her fresh start with her fur-ever family! Maxine came to us suffering from kennel cough, but she is now all better and ready to go! She has blossomed in foster care and has turned into a spunky and fun girl. She loves to race around the backyard and is slowly learning how to do normal dog things. She can still be unsure in new places and when meeting new people, but we know that with a little help from her family, she will grow up to be an amazing companion. Maxine is still learning all of her basic manners, so she will need a family dedicated to helping her learn. Maxine loves other dogs and has become BFFs with one of the younger dogs in her foster home. She would love another dog to play with in her new home, but she could also do well as an only dog with frequent opportunities to socialize with dog friends. We haven't seen Maxine around cats, but we think she may do well living with dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction and proper supervision. Maxine has been doing great living with kids and could be a wonderful addition to a family with respectful kids 7 years and older. Maxine is still working on her housetraining, so her new family will need to be patient with her and be consistent with her training to help her succeed. She hasn't spent too much time alone since her foster mom works from home, so she would do best with a family that can slowly acclimate her to being left alone. Maxine is such a darling girl, and she can't wait to be your new best friend! If she sounds like the pup you need in your life, submit an application today! Maxine's adoption fee is $450. Apply to adopt here! form.jotform/52017002013129/ Applications are also available on the website (.yolospca) It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. Breed overview
Overview:
The enchanting Italian Papihound is a delightful crossbreed, combining the elegant Italian Greyhound with the charming Papillon, originating from a desire to blend their best qualities. Physically, they are typically small, graceful dogs, often sporting the slender build of the Greyhound with the distinctive, fringed "butterfly" ears of the Papillon. Their coats can vary but are generally short to medium in length and require moderate grooming. Temperament-wise, they are known for being affectionate, intelligent, and often quite playful. This makes them excellent companions for singles, seniors, and families with gentle children. Their adaptable size and relatively low exercise needs make them particularly well-suited for apartment living, though they do enjoy a good walk and playtime. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of possible predispositions to conditions seen in their parent breeds, such as patellar luxation or dental issues, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
