Posted Breed: Siberian Husky (long coat). Comet (15 year old NM Husky) and Karma (13 year old SF Husky) – Seeking a forever home. These are the two youngest husky seniors you will ever meet! Sadly, they were surrendered in a divorce and are incredibly bonded so we will only adopt them out to a forever home where they can live out the rest of their years together. Comet is a neutered male, age 15, 54 lbs. Gentle, loving, sweet, easygoing with perfect manners. He enjoys hanging out in the yard, going for car rides and walks on a trail or around the doggie park, doggie day care, and snuggling with his daughter Karma. His health is amazingly good! He takes a twice daily liver support supplement and can jump in and out of the car. His foster mom took him to the doggie chiropractor for an adjustment and he loved how it loosened up his spine, hips, and neck. Karma is a spayed female, age 13, 37 lbs. She is so feisty she doesn't look or act a day over age 3! Karma loves all of the same things that Comet does, as well as running around with her foster mom's younger dogs at the dog park. A few things to know about our little girl: She does have some alpha tendencies and therefore should not live with another dominant dog. She has a mass between her chest and shoulder and is scheduled for surgery on June 20th.. Both have done well around children and cats, seek attention from people, share their food and water bowls, and are very gentle when taking treats. They are housetrained with doggie doors and have currently have 24/7 access to a fenced yard. Same set-up preferred for their new home. Thank you for considering bringing this special pair into your life!

Siberian Husky

A.K.A. : Chukcha, Chuksha
Overview: The Siberian Husky is very similar in looks to the Alaskan Malamute, yet somewhat smaller in build and not quite as bold. Still, he needs a strong-willed owner who will stay in control. This dog loves to roam and explore, so he needs a nice big yard.
Breed Group: Working
Weight (lbs): male: 45-60, female: 35-50
Height (in): male: 21-23.5, female: 20-22
Colors: All colors from black to pure white.
Coat: Coat is double-layered and medium-length. The guard hairs of the outer coat are straight and somewhat smooth lying. The undercoat is soft and dense and of sufficient length.
Character: Siberian Huskies are not particularly good watch dogs, because they want to befriend everyone they meet. They love to roam and are full of energy and independence.
Temperament: This breed gets along well with other Huskies, but they need to be trained carefully if they're to be kept with other household pets. They will not get along with cats or other small animals, though they do well with children.
Care: Its coat needs brushing one or two times a week, daily during periods of heaviest shedding.
Training: This breed is very intelligent and independent. Handlers should take this into consideration and use patience and understanding during training.
Activity: The Siberian Husky needs to be involved in physical activities and requires a well-fenced yard. If they are not kept active, they can be very destructive and noisy.
Country of Origin: Russia
Health Issue: This breed is relatively healthy, but some have heart disease and eye problems, along with dermatitis.
Life Expectancy: 11-13

More About Siberian Husky Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Breed: American Bulldog-Unknown Mix

      Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Bulldog / Mixed (short coat). Meet Sonny! This little guy has had a tough life so far but you would never know it with his happy go lucky attitude. He is about 5yo (estimated assigned birthday is 11/5/2012) he is about 50 pounds. With a cute under-bite and an adorable face, this boy is attentive and loves to be loved on He is h ouse broken and goes outside to do his business quick so he can get back in for more loving. He has great leash manners so he is easy to walk. He likes to go on car rides! Sonny would be a great addition to the family, he loves human attention. Older children would be best as he does get a little grabby with treats (he LOVES treats.) He LOVES to give big ol' face kisses! He prefers to be the only pet. Can you give this boy the better life he deserves He is already started on his HW treatment so his new foster or adopter just needs to help him finish! Sonny is HW positive but don't let that stop you from looking at this great dog! EAPL will work with his adopter's on his heartworm treatment. EAPL will cover the cost associated with his heartworm treatments (the immedicide injections and his 6mo follow up blood test to insure he is cleared.) We have worked with many HW positive dogs and we have an amazing team of vet's that have successfully treated our dogs. The treatment usually lasts about 2mo (with kennel rest) and he is non-contagious to other dogs while going through his treatment (it is transmitted by mosquitos.) Once his treatment is completed, he will be a normal happy dog! Put in your application today and one of our volunteers can talk to you about heartworm treatment and the process.

      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Rhodesian Ridgeback / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Meet Halo, is he a striking dog or what? Wow what a smile! You just know that he loves life and that he is a happy guy. YET he was found as a stray, and no one came to claim him. And worse yet, no one went to the shelter to adopt him. Halo is 2yrs old so we gave him a birthday of (11/26/2015) and he is currently 60 pounds. The photographer said that Halo is curious, happy, and focused. He will love learning new things and going on adventures with his new forever family. They are guessing his breed to be a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Lab mix. Halo is REALLY blooming and turning into a wonderful fellow. He knows his name and a few basic commends "sit" and sometimes "stay",but not "shake" yet. He's a great traveler and companion, he's friendly towards other people, and he's made a few doggy friends and enjoys playing with them. He''s active and affectionate and he'll be great with a family with kids or other dogs...just no cats. He still has a lot of puppy and everything in the whole world is a chew toy. Fortunately, not furniture -- his specialty is pillows and stuffed animals. I've gotten him tons of stuffed animals and a few kongs (kongs not his fav BUT the stuffed ones OMG they are FAVs +++). He'll definitely need some training on that score and also about standing still while putting on a leash, but considering what shape he was in at first when he arrived.... he's made terrific progress! . Put in your application today for this smiling guy! Halo is heartworm positive BUT don't let that stop you from being interested in this boy as your forever dog. EAPL will cover all the vet care for his heartworm treatment. You just need to provide the TLC for just 60 +/- days and then he will be on his way to being a normal Colorado active dog! Once the heartworms are cleared then he is good to go. Put in an application and one of our volunteers can talk to you about heartworm and the process.

We know they are a chihuahua mix but we have no idea what they are mixed with. Jarli is a very happy, active little boy. Loves to swim, loves to play ball and plays with his toys. Just a tad bit shy and loves to cuddle. He is very laid back little guy. Sorry no children under 8 for this wee one as he is afraid of them. He is a normal happy little guy just looking for his forever home!

Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). All people inquiring about pets listed as Courtesy Listings on the EAPL website and/or EAPL posting adoption boards should contact the current pet owner/rescue/shelter for answers to any questions and for final approval and placement. Please DO NOT CONTACT EAPL about courtesy listings. The pet owner/rescue/shelter and new owner shall make all arrangements on transferring the pet, information on history, vaccines, etc. Interested persons should email me at sjgilb7878@gmail.com Cloey is a mix, certainly some shepherd, maybe boxer, maybe ridgeback, maybe chow. She was eight years old in September of 2016. She was raised from a pup by my grandson and his ex-wife. Their divorce resulted in her being abandoned with me a year and a half ago. She is affectionate to the point of wanting to sit in my lap. She can't wait for a tummy rub when I come home. When I am home she follows me everywhere. She is extremely loyal and a good watch dog. She loves walks, which I am not able to manage very often, and she loves to play with toys. She needs an active owner who can spend lots of time with her and see that she gets proper exercise. She is very good off leash. She seems to me to be very intelligent, learning quickly what my requirements are. Cloey has some negative traits, as well. She can easily scale a six foot fence or higher. Thus I have to crate her long hours when I am at work so my beagle can have access to a pet door. The crate is also necessary because she can almost always find something to get into and tear up, whether a low placed tissue box or a box of plastic wrap left out on the kitchen counter. The objects of her interest go far beyond the category of food. She likes to dig little holes (divits) all over the back yard, so her front paws are usually dirty and of course she tracks the dirt inside. She has a tendency to jump up (very strong, grasping front legs) thus an authoritarian "Down" must often be employed to save ones arms and legs from bruises. She grew up using the bed and the furniture as she pleased and is still learning her manners in that regard. Cloey has improved dramatically in her behaviors and proves herself to be a loving, playful pet. She does fine with other dogs, but prefers people. Interested persons should email me at sjgilb7878@gmail.com and tell me what it is about Cloey that interests them and describe the kind of environment she would be living in. Include a phone number and I will call if I believe it could be a suitable match.

Bruno is his name and he’s tall and athletic.. goes about 50 -60 lbs. and also goes about 30 miles an hour. He’s also very uneducated to the nuances of the world In a wonderful way.. taking a treat from our hand for the first time was like discovering chocolate or the way he looks up all the time in wonder.. birds planes tree branches. It’s hard to take your eyes off of him. If you had to go on personality and wisdom you’d peg him at 9 months.. we’re guessing 2- 2 1/2 yrs. old. When we walk I get so proud of his restraint. He has the ability to bound down the sidewalk with my arm attached to the leash but in reality you get these tiny little tugs due to his head turning at every mammal insect reptile and fauna.. it’s very entertaining. Other dogs are very new and fascinating to Bruno and he gets very excited to play as hard as he possibly can. He has made a friend.. acquaintance with our cat.. some good sniffs and a carry on.. and that was that. This is a special guy."

Please DO NOT CONTACT EAPL about courtesy listings. The pet owner/rescue/shelter and new owner shall make all arrangements on transferring the pet, information on history, vaccines, etc. Hi! I’m Mesa. I’m an amazing female Cattle Dog mix (best guess) near 7 yrs old. I’m really smart, I learn anything quickly and know many commands. I’m a super sweet and happy girl. In fact my tail rarely stops wagging. I love being outside, patrolling the yard or sunbathing on the deck. But I can enjoy being inside, hanging with my person, leaning on her making sure she doesn’t slack on the ear scratches. I have a lot of energy so I like playing ball in the yard. Walking on a leash is a bit of challenge because I don’t get along with other dogs but I continue to work on this. In fact this is why my mom is so heartbroken that she must look for a new home for me. Her plan was always to be my forever home but I no longer get along with my doggie housemate, I have to be kept separate from him. We made strides in conditioning and impulse control with the help of professionals, but had to make the difficult decision that I need to be the only pet in the household. I shouldn’t be with any other dogs, cats etc. I’ve never been around children so the best home for me would have no small children. If I don’t say so myself, I’m a wonderful dog and I know I will thrive in the perfect home and will make a great companion to someone who is willing to take the time to build that forever bond. Are you the one for me, and me for you? Hope so! Please contact Lori & Mesa @ 303-726-2396

Posted Breed: Miniature Pinscher / Mixed (short coat). Trudy is a min pin x and is about 6lbs. Her birthday is estimated at 4/10/2015. She was transferred to us from a shelter where she was on the euthanize list they thought she had an injury and maybe had a broken leg. But once we had her evaluated at the vet we learned she was born with a deformed spine and has spina bifida. She had a leg that she dragged and unfortunately we had to make a decision to amputate he her for her health as it was always getting infected form the dragging. She is a total cuddle bug and just buries her head into your chest and holds onto you and won't let go. She is very quiet and loves anyone and any attention. She has clearly been very neglected:( She is super friendly with other dogs and doesn't even growl at the big dogs that think she is a mouse and try to eat her lol! She loves to sleep in her baby play pen too. Since she has spina bifida, she is incontinent (fecal and urine) and will need to wear a diaper for the rest of her life. It really won't impact her life in any other way. If you would love a cuddly, sweet, baby (who actually sleeps in a play pen and wears diapers) Min is the girl for you. She will have a long and wonderful life when she meet the family ready to give her that chance. To meet her, put in an app today!
