Mutt

A mongrel, mixed-breed dog

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.

Mastador

The Mastador is a cross between a purebred Mastiff and a purebred Labrador Retriever. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds. The Mastador is a large dog that can stand from 28 to 36 inches and weigh anywhere between 100 to 200 pounds or more. These dogs are alert, cheerful, loyal and social. They are very strong dogs that have brown, expressive eyes and strong muscular legs. These dogs are suitable for families with older children as they get excited and may knock over small children by accident. These dogs are social and get along well with other dogs and pets. They are loyal and protective of their family and make very good companion dogs. They can fit into apartment life is sufficient exercise and running opportunities are provided although they would ideally need a house with a fenced yard.

American Bulldog

Originally used in the 17th century for bull baiting—a wagering sport in which dogs fought bulls in a ring—Bulldogs had taller, more athletic frames (much like the Olde English Bulldogge). When bull baiting was outlawed in 1835, Bulldogs were bred to be kinder, heavier and more relaxed. However, American Bulldogs—which were brought to the U.S. before this breeding pattern—retained the size and strength of the original Bulldogs. Great family dogs, American Bulldogs are sweet to children. They love family-oriented occasions and want to be involved. With proper training and socialization, you’ll find them outgoing and exceedingly loyal. Some American Bulldogs will go to great lengths to protect their masters. Tough and determined, American Bulldogs have an impressive stamina and strength. They are always game for playtime in the back yard or working in the field.

Boxador

The Boxador is a cross between an Boxer and a Labrador Retriever. The Boxador is a hybrid or designer breed that was developed by crossing Boxer and a Labrador Retriever. Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the Boxador are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. The Chi-Corgi is a cross between an Chihuahua and a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. The Chi-Corgi is a hybrid or designer breed that was developed by crossing Chihuahua and a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Though the breed was intended to be a 50/50 mix, many of the Chi-Corgi are bred over many generations and may not always be 50% and 50%.
