Description
Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Adoption Fee: 300.00. Ryan is a shy with people does well with his pack friends. Ryan was left out side when his owners moved. He was on his own for about 11 months when animal control finally caught him. No one could touch him. He has come a long ways but needs someone who understands that it will take time for him to warm up to them. He does sit on my lap now and will sit next to someone he knows. He is an extreme flight risk until he can trust the person he is with. He would do well if he has a playmate his size. He needs an experienced owner. He is not overly affectionate but loves to come on my lap and loves his back rubs and head scratchs. He also needs a secure fenced yard. He does not do well on a leash. Only experienced people with this type of dog will be considered for Ryan. Will not answer any emails just applications will be reviewed and considered. Ryan does not do well out side his environment. Needs someone who will be with him most of the time so he can start to feel secure not taken on trips or watched by other people. It will take time and he will come around to be a wounderful companion.

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
