Description
Dog Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Kane is a very shy and sweet boy. He will need an adopter that is familiar with the breed and knows how to help him gain confidence. He is not a candidate for an adopter that hasn't had dogs in the past or any adopters with small children. He is crate and house trained. He is dog selective and would do best in a home with no other dogs. Kane is very smart and rings a bell on the door when he has to go outside to potty! He loves to nap on your lap and would make a great work from home buddy. He was abused when he was a little puppy and has an unusual bark. He's been through a lot and needs an adopter that will be patient while he adjusts to his new home. Kane is up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, neutered , microchipped, dewormed and on flea/heartworm prevention. Kane’s adoption fee is $200. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application. Interested applicants can apply at: .scarohio/adoption-application

Overview:
The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a robust and intelligent breed, originating in the United States from crossbreeding Old English Terriers and Old English Bulldogs for dog-fighting purposes. Physically, they are medium-sized, known for their muscular build, broad heads, and powerful jaws, typically weighing between 30-60 pounds. Their coats are short and come in a wide array of colors. Temperamentally, a well-socialized APBT is often described as loyal, affectionate, and people-oriented, displaying a playful and sometimes clownish demeanor. They can be excellent family companions, provided they receive consistent training and early socialization, though their high energy levels mean they thrive with active owners. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient exercise, a house with a secure yard is often preferred. Notable health considerations include a predisposition to hip and elbow dysplasia, allergies, and certain heart conditions.
