Description

Posted Breed: Terrier. Age: 14 to 15 months Sex: Spayed female Estimated Breed: Mixed breed Weight: 33 lbs Good with dogs?: Yes Good with cats?: Unknown Good with children?: Yes Special/Medical Needs: None Energy Level: High Let me introduce the lovely Brownie. She flew all the way from India and would really love to find her perfect, forever family. Brownie is one of the smartest dogs I've ever worked with. She is focused and responsive and learns commands quickly. She is excellent on leash and never pulls. Her favorite things include snuggling on the sofa, taking rides in the car, and basically going anywhere her foster family goes. Brownie is a young, high-energy dog that would do best with someone who has the time for daily walks. She is an excellent running companion and would be the perfect partner to train with for your next run. Brownie loves kids and has no problem following commands from my 7-year-old daughter. She loves her foster parents fenced backyard. She is fully housetrained and does not make messes in the house. She would do best with a family that has a single-family home with a backyard for playtime. Brownie will need a family that is understanding of her unique background. She was a stray dog and grew up on the streets. She learns quickly, but does not make the best first impression with people. She takes a couple of days to warm up and relax. It is not unusual for her to growl lightly to herself when she meets a new person. She doesn't bite, and barks only when she is upset. I think she would do best with a family that has another dog. She needs a proper introduction to new dogs and time to adjust, but I get the impression she would be happier living in a pack. It is likely how she spent the first year of her life. At approximately 14-15 months old, Brownie still has some improvement to make in her training. She requires someone that will be patient and allow her time to grow and mature. We are currently seeing some traits of separation anxiety. It would make Brownie very happy to be in a home where her family is not gone for long periods of time. I really believe Brownie just needs time to adjust to life as a pet and she will improve in her timid behavior and fear of strangers. I suspect in a few months she will be a very different dog.
