Special/Medical Needs: No Energy Level: Medium Kimmy is very timid and needs an adopter with a lot of patience. She can take days to warm up to new people. During this time, she prefers to be left alone to come out when she's ready. She did growl when approached but never lunged or bit anyone. Once she's had time to warm up and feel comfortable she is very snuggly. She will paw at you to keep petting her and push her face into your hand. When she is snuggly, she is very insistent and will jump up and crawl all over you. We are working on our manners and keeping 4 paws on the floor when excited. Kimmy is easily startled and would do best in a quieter home, where she can come out of her shell at her own pace. She seems to prefer female attention and sometimes cowers/avoids male interactions. She has never been aggressive, preferring to run and hide. She does like to have her own quiet space away from everyone, and we'll often find her napping in a room by herself instead of hanging with everyone in a common area. When guests visit, she will keep her distance and not let them pet her. Kimmy just needs more positive exposure to build her confidence. She is afraid of loud voices and sounds. Kimmy would do best in a home with older children in a calmer environment. Kimmy would greatly benefit from another calmer dog in the household. A dog that can show her not everything is scary, and encourage her to play and enjoy life. The dog would also have to respect her boundaries and give her space at first, letting her come out when she's ready. She just recently started playing with a toy, and only seems to like her ping pong ball. She is intimidated and hesitant to play with stuffies. Another dog in the home would really help her come out of her shell. We also have a cat that she shows zero interest in. Kimmy is crate trained and has no issues going in, or hanging out in there for a few hours while alone. She really enjoys her kibble and is slowly learning to like treats of different taste/textures. She will take her time playing with it and figuring out that she can eat it. She has never shown any food aggression towards us, or our resident pets. She will sleep in her crate all night with no issue, but also likes to lay on her bed in our room. Kimmy is still afraid of the leash, so we are doing slow walks around the yard while she gets used to it. She is improving, and will get there! Because she's still new to the leash, she will need a fenced yard to get her daily exercise in. She does enjoy going outside and whizzing around the yard with her foster brother. Kimmy is a quick little thing! She is house trained but has had a few accidents in the house. Kimmy would thrive in a home that has experience with fearful dogs. She has never been aggressive because of her fear, instead preferring to hide and avoid at all cost. She needs an adopter with a lot of patience as she finds her way. She really is sweet, snuggly, goofy, and smart. She just needs the right home to reach her full potential. With time and confidence, Kimmy really will be an amazing and loyal companion.
