Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever (medium coat). Click Here to Sponsor Me! Adoption APPLICATION: Muttsinneed/adoption-application ** Application must be completed prior to a meet & greet. Our Adoption Process:Muttsinneed/adoption-process Electra is a very sweet girl that came to us a couple years ago from a rescue that had too many dogs. Her sister who also came with her, was able to adjust faster and she got adopted. Unfortunately, Electra's been in boarding now for a couple of years waiting for her forever home. She is very shy and the world outside of the kennel can be a scary place, especially after all of these years but the more you come to walk her the more comfortable you will see she is. She is phenomenal with other dogs. That’s truly her comfort zone is hanging out with the other dogs. Dogs like Electra are not for everyone. She needs someone who is going to be patient and give her the love and affection that she so desperately wants. If you would like to meet her or even just volunteer some time to work with her at the Kennel, please fill out an application .muttsinneed/adoption-application.html

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
