Description
Dog Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier. Have you ever wanted a cuddly panda of your own? May we direct your attention to our very own Panda? Panda is a sweet and affectionate 2.5 year old girl. She was originally found abandoned and locked in a dog crate, but fortunately, she is now safe with us at EASEL. Panda is one smart cookie. Because she happens to be deaf, she is learning hand commands, which is a bit more time consuming, but she already knows some of the basics like ‘sit’ and ‘come.’ Panda does well on walks and, in the home, is a medium-energy dog. Panda has now been at our shelter for over a year and has been waiting patiently for her perfect forever home to come along. Panda would be happiest in a quieter home that will give her a consistent routine. She might also do well with a dog friend who could help build her confidence. Could this big panda bear be the right fit for you? Apply to meet Panda today! Adoption by appointment only with an approved adoption application. Please go to .easelnj/adopt to submit an adoption application. Someone will be in touch within 48 hours.

Overview:
The American Staffordshire Terrier, often affectionately called an "AmStaff," is a breed with a fascinating history, originating in 19th-century England and later refined in the United States. Physically, they are medium-sized, muscular, and agile dogs, known for their powerful build and distinctive wide smile. Their short, stiff coat comes in a variety of colors and patterns. In terms of temperament, AmStaffs are generally intelligent, confident, and highly loyal to their families. They possess a strong desire to please and can be quite affectionate. While they can make excellent family companions and often get along well with children, early socialization and consistent training are crucial due to their strength and inherent protective instincts. They are adaptable and can thrive in various living situations, including apartments, as long as they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation. Health-wise, they are generally robust, but some individuals may be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as certain heart conditions.
