Dog Breed: Unknown breed. If you would like to take me home please complete a Pet Adoption Application female pit Meet Karamel! This two-year-old female pittie came to us as a stray. Her eyes were infected, her skin was infected, she had recently had puppies and was found running in a neighborhood. Karamel is a low rider with a huge smile, can be nervous with meeting new people, but warms up very quickly! This girl is highly food motivated and loves getting belly rubs once she trusts you. Karamel has a great smile and personality. Cats unknown and kids unknown. Dog meets are required for all residents.

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds.
