Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Zelda, a 3ish year old shepherd mix! She has lots of energy and is such a happy mellow girl! She was returned to us recently due to owner financial trouble, along with the tendency to nip at kids. She loves being outside on a walk but doesn't pull at all! She knows sit, shake and stay, and is just a really well behaved lady. She doesn’t bark much, and has no reaction to other dogs while they’re closer to her kennel, or she theirs. She would make the best couch companion and the softest cuddle bug! If you would like to meet me, please visit our website and complete the pre-adoption application. Once it has been processed then we can make a date to get together! All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (if over 2 years old), vaccinated, dewormed, flea and tick treated, microchipped and more before adoption. Our adoption policies include: Application, Vet Reference, Landlord approval & Criminal Background Check. We do not do same day adoptions. We request that you call for an appointment after your application has been approved to come and visit the dog of your choice. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
