Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Hound / Mixed. Interested in meeting a very friendly puppy who gets along fine with kids, dogs, and cats? Meet Cherokee who is just 6 months, currently weighing 38 pounds. The best estimate of her full-grown weight would be a large dog of over 60 pounds. She is a lab hound mix. Note the black and white speckled paws and the friendly puppy face. She is full of life and puppy energy. Little is known about her previous life. But puppies have lots of potential, so she can grow to be a wonderful companion in the right home. Cherokee will need someone who knowledge and/or experience working with puppies. Using the right guidance with consistency, repetition, and patience, will help her with the skills she needs to master. Cheerful praise and lots of treats will go a long way in helping her master those skills. It will take time and energy, but the result will be worth it. Since we do not know how much training she has had, it would be best to start at the beginning with house, crate, and leash training. She, like most pups will be a quick learner once routines are established. Daily short walks (under thirty minutes) will be a good opportunity to work on leash skills as well as socialization skills. It will be a new world to her with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along her walk. Please note: She may not be a running companion until at least age one when her growth plate closes. Cherokee will also appreciate free time in the back yard. Keeping her mind active with activities that provide physical and mental stimulation will prevent boredom. Could she be a future frisbee player? Are you willing to commit to the time and energy needed to raise this puppy so that she can reach her full potential of being a loving, devoted companion? If yes, read on. * Please keep in mind when considering adoption, dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust significantly better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Cherokee is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us. If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.
