Video link: youtube/shorts/VqOopuYtw8Y?feature=share FOR ADOPTION! Note: Only those with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply. INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLY: PLEASE read profile thoroughly BEFORE applying: DOG APPLICATION LINK: .roadtorescuela/dog-application Teton (male) DOB: 4/2/2025 (born to Shoshoni from the Doyline hoard/breeder seizure) Breed: Chihuahua Current weight as of 10/5/2025: 3.88 pounds Size potential: 6-7 pounds - This is an estimate and we can’t guarantee adult weight. Mother, Shoshoni is 5 pounds – father unknown. Adoption fee and vetting: $350, neutered, includes age-appropriate vaccinations (he has COMPLETED his puppy vaccinations), rabies vaccination, dewormed, microchipped Good with other dogs: yes Cats: yes Health issues: none found. Biography: PLEASE keep in mind your AGE! Despite what you may want, we want YOU to outlive the pup… not the other way around! Puppies (especially small-breed) can live 15-20 years! Teton was born to Shoshoni, who was rescued from the horrible Doyline breeder / hoarder bust led by the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office and Lama Animal Rescue. What a nightmare all of those animals lived in for YEARS. Shoshoni was pregnant and not healthy. She was skinny and anemic. Xray showed she had 5 puppies in her tiny belly. We knew she’d struggle giving birth. On a weekend, she went into labor and we took her to Valor Emergency Vet. Shoshoni had a c-section and 5 live puppies were born. One passed shortly after birth. Sadly, Shoshoni DID NOT produce milk NOR did she want anything to do with the puppies. I guess just like humans, dogs can sometimes not develop that motherly instinct. Anyway, the puppies were bottle fed. One was adopted by one of the bottle feeders. The other three ended up at Michele’s house for care and supervision as they were all so delicate and tiny. One has since been adopted. Teton is now ready. Lander is being spayed soon and then she’ll be ready. Teton is a bit shy and submissive with people. He plays hard with his buddies at the rescue. He loves humans and can be found sitting in the lap of a volunteer with his friends, watching the ongoings of the rescue. He’s been such fun to watch grow and come into his own, but now it’s time or him to find a family of his own. Teton knows how to sit, is kennel trained and walks pretty decent on a leash. If you think this little guy is meant for you, we welcome your application. Keep in mind, he is TINY so he can never ever ever ever ever be outside by himself!!!!!! DID YOU READ THAT? Never ever ever ever ever! Ok, we think you get the picture. LOL! Anyway, get those applications in before he disappears off of our website! PUPPIES! Keep in mind, puppies teeth just like human babies and have little sharp toenails. They will also have behaviors that require training. Puppies will cry, chew, bite, mouth, nip, bark, destroy, dig, scratch, etc. The puppy phase lasts about 18 months (sometimes longer), so be sure you ARE READY for the commitment! Don't even think about applying if you have any doubts about raising a puppy... and don't expect children to take care of the puppy... because they won't! This needs to be an adult decision and an adult commitment. POTTY TRAINING: A puppy can only hold their bladder for a short period of time based upon their age. If the puppy is 2 months old, they can hold their bladder for 2 hours; 3 months/3 hours; 4 months/ 4 hours, etc., up to 6 months of age. At about 6 months of age, this time frame stables out. Puppies are a 10-15 year commitment (sometimes longer). Please be sure you are prepared for the life of the puppy! In conclusion, if your puppy is in a responsible home that provides daily structure, training and socialization with people and other pets, your puppy will grow to be a well-adjusted and wonderful part of your family for many years to come. COMMITMENT: Puppies are a 10-15 year commitment (sometimes longer). Please be sure you are prepared for the life of the puppy! Bear in mind your AGE! While life is never guaranteed, we want the odds to be that YOU outlive the puppy, not the other way around. In conclusion, if your puppy is in a responsible home that provides daily structure, training and socialization with people and other pets, your puppy will grow to be a well-adjusted and wonderful part of your family for many years to come. **IMPORTANT NOTES** *We do adopt out of state provided the adopter is willing and able to travel to us once approved. We do not ship or transport our animals and there is no exception to this rule. *All of our adoptable dogs are small, and they are never to be left outside alone, ever! We only rehome our dogs to adopters that plan to have them as inside dogs and part of the family! We do allow adopters with doggie doors, provided there is SECURE fencing. There is no exception to this rule! *NO SMALL CHILDREN!! As with almost all the dogs at NR2R, young children or a very active household is not recommended. Many of our dogs come to us BECAUSE of small children, thus we do not rehome our dogs to homes with babies or young children. KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU HAVE VISITING GRANDCHILDREN AS WELL! Even if the children are older, it would depend on the child AND the parent or parents. *HOUSETRAINING: We do NOT guarantee that any of our adoptable dogs are housetrained. While most should be easily trained, keep in mind that they live in a rescue where they have access to the outdoors all day and are inside at night. Even if they were surrendered to us as housetrained, it doesn’t mean they will automatically be housetrained in your home. Housetraining them should be easy in the right home with time, patience, and consistency. *We do not guarantee the age, health or temperament of any of the dogs we rehome. Many of the dogs we take in come from animal control and rarely do we have histories and even when we do, many times the histories are inaccurate. *Only adopters with a responsible dog ownership history and excellent vet reference need apply. If you bring this pet into your heart and home, you will receive in return many years of love, companionship, and loyalty. That’s our guarantee. Other notes: This pet is available for adoption through Ninna’s Road to Rescue, Benton, La. We are 501c3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to rescue primarily small-breed dogs and to re-home them into RESPONSIBLE and CARING forever homes. DOG APPLICATION LINK: .roadtorescuela/dog-application Time may be of the essence if you are looking to adopt a specific animal. We do not reserve animals, unless and until we have approved your application, provided the animal is still available at the time we receive your application. The first APPROVED application we receive will be considered. We are NOT a first come, first serve rescue!! We adopt our rescues out to the RIGHT home, not just A home. Only responsible pet owners need apply. Applying to adopt does NOT commit you to the adoption NOR does it guarantee the adoption. CONTACT: Our adoptable pets are updated regularly, but if you want to check the availability of a pet... OR still have questions AFTER reading this profile, message us via our Facebook page. Please indicate the name when communicating with us. .RoadtoRescueLA “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~ Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life. Blessings.
