Name: Heather Best Guess for Breed: Lab mix Best Guess for Age: 2 years, 3 months as of Oct. 2025 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 46 lbs Gets Along With: Heather lives with dogs and kids in her foster home. We haven't seen her with cats but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Heather would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes. Heather is Looking For: Meet Heather, a sweet 2-year-old Lab mix with a soft tan coat and a heart to match. This medium-sized girl has the perfect blend of playful energy and gentle affection. She’s the kind of dog who brightens every day—happy to tag along on adventures or just curl up beside you when it’s time to relax. Heather will make a wonderful addition to just about any home. What My Foster Says About Me: Heather is sweetness personified! She’s incredibly affectionate and gentle - she loves to be petted, give kisses, and snuggle. She’s doing very well with house and crate training, and she sleeps quietly through the night. Heather is wonderful with my kids, gets along well with our other dog, and is friendly with dogs she meets out and about. She enjoys car rides and is calm in the car. Heather has a soft, gentle nature. She can be a little shy in new situations or startle at sudden noises, but she’s curious, observant and quickly gaining confidence every day as she settles in and learns the routine. She has a great, easygoing energy level - she enjoys her “sniffy” walks and then is happy to come home and relax and either snooze or entertain herself with toys. She is food motivated so training has been easy - she already knows "sit" and "down" and is working on "come." Overall, she’s a loving, well-mannered dog who would make a truly wonderful companion!
