This precious pup is searching for a home where she can shine. She came to Pawfect Match after a large breeder bust in the Southwest, and although she had a difficult start in life, she has bloomed in a very short time. She is shy at first but now has several doggie friends and is taking less time to warm up to humans - especially ones who offer treats. Her 2 favorite spot: stretched out on the grass in the sun and in the basket of clean dog blankets she has decided makes a perfect dog bed. She seems very smart and eager to learn - especially when treats are involved. She walks well on a leash, is nearly house trained, and loves her crate- once again treats were involved. House training is an achievement for a dog who was previously neglected. Don’t wait for spring—May is here, and she’s eager to meet her forever family! *************************************************** The adoption fee is $400, which covers vetting, microchip and the spay/neuter surgery performed by a rescue-affiliated vet. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
