Description
Dog Breed: Great Dane. LOCATION: Hartselle, AL DOB: 08/10/2017 Meet Draco, a gentle and regal senior Great Dane who is as calm and loving as they come. Draco is the definition of “go-with-the-flow.” He’s a mild-mannered, easygoing boy who’s happiest when he’s lounging around the farm or napping in a sunny spot. He’s a true “in your pocket” kind of companion—content to spend the day close to you, quietly following your lead and soaking up your affection. Draco’s energy level is firmly in the couch-potato category. A short stroll around the yard or a leisurely walk is all he needs before settling in for another nap. He’s perfectly happy just being near his people, whether that’s resting at your feet or curling up with a cozy blanket. In fact, Draco loves to make himself a little pallet and even tucks himself in if you leave a blanket nearby! This handsome boy is a true farm dog at heart. He gets along beautifully with all kinds of animals—dogs, donkeys, mules, cats, and especially his beloved chickens, who are his favorite companions. He’s gentle and well-mannered on leash, polite in the car, and loves being part of a peaceful routine. Draco isn’t a fan of chaos or high-energy dogs, so a calm, low-stress home where he can be the only dog (or share space with a submissive, relaxed canine friend) would make him happiest. Draco adores attention and melts for gentle pets and cuddles. He’ll happily lean in for love or sprawl across your lap if you let him. He’s strikingly handsome, with a presence that turns heads everywhere he goes. He’s also got a few quirks that make him extra endearing—he’s known to help himself to a blanket for naptime and is always thrilled for a pup cup (XXL, of course!). Draco is house-trained and comfortable in a crate. He’s patient and cooperative with clean-ups and enjoys a good bath. He’s also recovering from past malnutrition and some lingering soreness, so his forever family will need to continue giving him the gentle care and attention he deserves. He’s been wonderful with kids of all ages and warms up instantly to anyone offering treats and affection. This sweet old soul has weathered a lot but remains incredibly loving, loyal, and ready to devote himself to his person. Draco would thrive in a quiet home with someone who appreciates the slow, peaceful rhythm of life and has room in their heart for a big, soft-hearted Dane who just wants to love and be loved. He’s a true gentleman—steady, affectionate, and endlessly loyal. Whoever welcomes Draco home will be gaining a constant companion and a best friend for life. ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 . Overview:
The Great Dane is an impressive and regal breed, often dubbed the "Apollo of Dogs" for its dignified stature and noble appearance. Originating in Germany, where it was historically bred for hunting boar, this giant breed is renowned for its immense size and striking presence. Physically, Great Danes are characterized by their tall, muscular build, short coat (available in various colors like fawn, brindle, black, blue, and harlequin), and expressive eyes. Despite their formidable size, they possess a surprisingly gentle and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful family companions. They are known for being patient with children and generally get along well with other pets. While their size might suggest otherwise, Great Danes can adapt to apartment living if provided with sufficient daily exercise, as they are not overly energetic indoors. However, prospective owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus), hip dysplasia, and certain heart conditions, necessitating careful breeding and regular veterinary check-ups. Overall, a Great Dane offers a loving and loyal addition to the right home.
