Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Adoption Fee: $100. CVRR is listing this dog as a COURTESY to the actual owner. This dog is not currently in the care of CVRR, and CVRR makes no representations or guarantees for the animal's behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed has been given by the dog's current owner and should be verified by any interested potential adopter. JeBecca is a 14-month-old Shepherd mix weighing about 40 pounds. She’s a gentle, affectionate girl who loves car rides, daycare days, and relaxing by her person’s side. JeBecca is house- and crate-trained, quiet, and well-mannered. She’s a bit shy with new people, especially men and children, but warms up beautifully once she feels safe. JeBecca thrives around other confident, friendly dogs and would do best in a calm home with another pup to help her build confidence. JeBecca is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and on heartworm prevention. This is a courtesy post — JeBecca is currently in her owner’s care.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
