Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Meet Moe! Moe is an 8-month-old hound mix weighing about 30 pounds, and he might just be the gentlest soul you’ll ever meet. This sweet boy walks beautifully on a leash, loves quiet companionship, and is happiest just being near his people. Moe is doing great with crate training. He sleeps soundly through the night (about 10 p.m.–6:45 a.m.) and he's even perfectly content to sleep in on the weekends! He is also proving to be a pro with house training. He keeps both his crate and the house clean when kept on a schedule. While Moe can be a little skittish at first, once he learns to trust you, he’ll be your most loyal friend—your snuggle buddy, walking partner, and passenger seat pal all in one. He would do best in a calm, quiet home that will give him the time and patience to blossom into the confident, loving dog he’s meant to be. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate companion to share life’s peaceful moments with, Moe is ready to melt your heart. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and will be available for adoption through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA KL# 16182.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
