Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Introducing Ellsa, an 8-week-old, thought to be Shepherd mix who is looking for her forever family. Ellsa and her siblings had a bit of a rough start in life, when they were found abandoned in a box near some railraod tracks in West Virginia. After being rescued, she has spent some time learning how to play and trust humans and is ready to be the perfect adorable addition to your family! At 8 weeks old she still has a lot to learn about the world and about how to be your perfect companion. She's just being introduced to crate training and housebreaking. As a young puppy she can be trained to be gentle with other animals and young children, with an owner who can set boundraries to help show her the ropes. Ellsa, is the second-smallest female at just 10 lbs — but don’t let her size fool you! She’s a joyful little bundle of energy who’s equal parts playful and affectionate. Her adopter will truly get the best of both worlds: a lively playmate and a loving cuddle companion. It is believed that Ellsa is going to be a medium to large breed dog. She will be spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and will be available for adoption starting 10/22 through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA KL# 16182.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
