Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Please read the bio of the rescue you are interested in to insure you are a match if you are a match the first step is to complete the online adoption application Unique came to us after her family realized they couldn't care for her any longer. She was born with some birth defects affecting her 2 front legs. We consulted with multiple veterinarians who all agreed there was really nothing that could be done for her. She runs, plays, and does all things any other dog would do. This could affect her down the road with early arthritis. Unique is a sweet girl who loves to romp in the yard playing with her toys. She has gotten along with other dogs her at the rescue but we would prefer if there is another dog in the home it be a male. We would also like to see her have a safe physical fenced in yard where she can play safely. She is now spayed, up to date on rabies and distemper vaccines, microchipped and current on preventatives. She does ok on leash but could use more practice with it. She will need work on her house training in her new home. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
