Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Rosco — a happy hound mix with a big heart and a sense of adventure! Rosco is an adult hound mix who absolutely loves to run, explore, and take in the world around him. This happy boy has a joyful spirit and truly comes alive when he has space to stretch his legs and follow his nose. Right now, he’s doing his best in a small kennel, but Rosco would thrive with more room — and even more love — in a foster or forever home. One of Rosco’s favorite things? Spending time with his best buddy, Spuds! The two make an amazing duo and would be a fantastic pair for anyone looking to double the fun (though Rosco would also be happy to shine on his own). Rosco is sweet, upbeat, and full of life. He deserves a chance at a good life with people who can give him space to explore, time to play, and a safe place to call home. Please consider fostering or adopting Rosco — giving him that chance could change his life forever.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
