Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). WARNING: Side effects of meeting Ike may include smiling uncontrollably. Just look at that face! Those oversized ears are always tuned in, hoping to hear someone say, "Let's go home!" Ike came to ARF in 2023 with his best friend, Tina. She found her forever family, and now it's Ike's turn. This handsome boy is full of personality, sporting the cutest radar ears and a smile that can brighten anyone's day. He's a smart guy who would love someone to help him polish his leash manners and discover all the fun that comes with life outside the shelter. More than anything, Ike is ready for a family to call his own. If you've been looking for a loyal companion with a heart of gold, Ike is waiting to meet you. A home without small children would be the best fit for this sweet boy.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
