Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Lucy is a 6 year old terrier mix who has had quite a life already and is ready for a truly loving and stable forever home! She was adopted from a shelter, then suspect hit by a car, then sent off to a horrific rescue, seized by animal control, and finally ended up with our rescue and in a loving foster home that has completed extensive vet care and rehab work to get her to the healthy point she is now! She marches to her own beat (literally). Total lap dog but also appreciates her alone time. Good with other dogs. She urinates on her own and has some control on holding it or only going when outside. But needs patience on potty walks because they can take a while and/or needs a little expressing to completely empty out. Good on leash. Can go for 45-60 minute walks. LOVES dog toys. If you’re looking a companion, Lucy is your girl! Please contact Diana at (510) 333-4420 or theperfectdogrescuegmail or fill out the adoption application: .theperfectdog/TPDadoptapp.doc

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
