Description

Dog Breed: Husky. Are you looking for the sweetest day-to-day companion? Are you hopeful for some awoo-s throughout your day and the softest set of ears? Look no further! Teea came from a very sad situation: her lifelong owners passed away recently, and she was owner surrendered with another pup. As you can imagine, Teea's had a hard time: it's a lot to go from your home and family of 7 years and into a new situation! She's grieving a bit, and she started out timid and distracted. But even with this massive life shift, it's clear Teea is a wonderful, special pup. She is a trademark husky soft, sassy, sweet, and maybe even a little stubborn! She's very dog friendly, incredibly good with all people she meets, and truly wants to be with you in the home. During her time in foster, she's been working on her house training (very good so far!), crate training (also excellent!), and learning to go up and down stairs so that she can be a true Yinzer like the rest of us (she doesn't love them, but she has mastered them, and we're still practicing!). She's also been working on relaxing and truly showing us what a lovely dog she is, and it's a joy to watch her play with her favorite ball or plushie around the house. During the day, this sweet girl can be crated if you're working out of the home, and we recommend ongoing crate training, but she also excels at lying by your feet in a home office for hours at a time. She's medium energy level and has been practicing her leash walking as well. In even a few weeks, we've see Teea relax and thrive with foster care. She really builds confidence + comes out of her shell when she's around her other, well-adjusted pups. As a result, we think Teea would do best in a home with at least one similarly aged (adult) dog. We haven't seen her around cats, but as a default, would recommend no cats at this time. If you're looking for an adult pup to be a companion and spend days by your side, Teea is likely to be an excellent fit. Apply today for a chance to meet her! Teea is available now! Siberian Husky

A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:

The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
