Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Available to foster or adopt! Breed: Pit Bull X DOB: 7/2017 Gender: male Altered: yes Coat: short Size: large Color(s): grey / white Description: ***Needs a Foster Home*** This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online application. Hi, I'm Shef, a strong and incredibly handsome Pit Bull X. I was rescued from a shelter just in the nick of time, and I am so grateful to have a second chance at finding a forever home. I am in need of some leash training, but I'm a fast learner and am eager to please. I am an adventurous explorer and love to take walks, so I definitely need a home where I can get plenty of exercise and adventures. I may prefer to be the only dog in the household as I am not sure how I feel about other dogs. At the shelter they said I wasn't good with other dogs. Since coming to CARL I have not shown that behavior. I did stand up for myself when a dog was loose and came charging aggressively at me, but I was not the instigator. It's unknown how I would do with children or cats. If you're interested in meeting me, please fill out an online application.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
